Platforms We Work Across

We are independent specialists. That means we choose the right system for the project, not the one we happen to sell.

Our independence is one of the most important things we offer. Because we are not tied to a single manufacturer or platform, we can approach every project without bias, selecting the technology that genuinely fits the brief.
Over the years, we have built deep, practical experience across a broad range of systems and protocols. The following reflects the platforms we are most regularly asked to work with. It is not an exhaustive list. If the system you need is not here, the likelihood is we will still know it.

Why Independence Matters

Knowing the systems is only useful if you are free to choose the right one.

We are not in the business of selling systems. Our value is in the understanding, the configuration and the ongoing support. Because we work across all platforms independently, we can give honest advice about what will work best for a given project, what will be practical to manage over time and where the risks lie.
That independence is what makes us genuinely useful to the people we work with. If a system is not the right fit, we will say so, and recommend one that is. That kind of honest, straightforward advice is harder to find than it should be, and it is something we take seriously on every project.

DALI & DALI-2

The open standard at the heart of most modern lighting control. Flexible, scalable and built for lasting building management.

DALI, the Digital Addressable Lighting Interface, is the protocol we work with most. It allows individual fixtures to be addressed, grouped and controlled independently, giving building managers precise control over how and when light is used.
DALI-2 builds on this with mandatory interoperability testing, making it easier to mix and match devices from different manufacturers without losing confidence in system behaviour. From basic dimming to complex multi-zone environments, DALI is the foundation of most of what we do.

Open Protocols

Beyond proprietary systems, we work fluently across open building protocols that support integration and lasting flexibility.

Many of the buildings we work in require lighting control to communicate with wider building management systems. We have experience coordinating DALI with BACnet and KNX networks, allowing lighting to integrate with HVAC, access control and energy management platforms at the building level.
For entertainment and architectural applications, we also work with DMX, providing colour control and dynamic scene management in spaces where the visual impact of lighting is a primary consideration. Understanding these protocols and how they interact is an important part of delivering systems that belong properly in the buildings they serve.

WAGO

Industrial-grade control hardware that provides a reliable, high-performance backbone for DALI networks in demanding commercial and infrastructure environments.

WAGO bring a level of engineering rigour to building control that is particularly well suited to large-scale commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects. Their DALI controllers and gateways provide a robust, dependable physical layer for lighting networks, with the build quality and reliability that complex environments demand.
We have developed specialist expertise in specifying, commissioning and supporting WAGO systems, particularly in environments where the stability of the control infrastructure is as important as the lighting strategy itself. Their solutions work exceptionally well in large DALI networks where multiple master configuration and reliable ongoing device management are critical.

Zencontrol

A modern, cloud-enabled DALI-2 platform that makes compliance, monitoring and remote management genuinely practical.

Zencontrol is one of the most capable DALI-2 platforms available, combining the reliability of a mature protocol with the convenience of cloud-based management and real-time monitoring. For facilities teams, this means greater visibility of how systems are performing and easier management of compliance requirements like emergency lighting testing.
We use Zencontrol across commercial, healthcare and education environments where ongoing system management is as important as the initial installation. Its reporting tools and automated compliance logic make it particularly well suited to buildings with regulatory obligations that need to be demonstrated clearly and consistently.

Helvar

One of Europe's most trusted platforms for commercial and healthcare environments, combining flexibility with lasting reliability.

Helvar systems are built around an open DALI architecture, which means they integrate well with other devices and remain serviceable as buildings change over time. We have extensive experience commissioning and supporting Helvar across large commercial installations, healthcare environments and infrastructure projects.
Their Designer and ActiveAhead platforms offer a range of solutions from straightforward dimming to autonomous, sensor driven control that adapts without manual intervention, making them well suited to buildings with complex occupancy patterns or high energy management requirements.

Lutron

The preferred choice for high-end residential and flagship commercial projects where performance and refinement need to coexist.

Lutron is synonymous with quality in lighting control. In residential settings, Homeworks QSX delivers precise, elegant dimming across whole home environments, with a level of finish that suits the most discerning projects. On the commercial side, Lutron's Vive and GRAFIK Eye systems provide robust, scalable solutions for offices, retail and hospitality.
We programme and commission Lutron systems across both disciplines, ensuring the configuration reflects the brief and the system performs flawlessly from handover. For projects where the quality of the dimming experience matters as much as the functionality, Lutron is a natural choice.

Tridonic

High-quality drivers and control gear that form the technical backbone of many of the systems we commission and maintain.

Tridonic manufacture some of the most reliable DALI drivers and control components in the industry. Understanding how their gear behaves across different configurations, and how to diagnose issues when they arise, is a core part of our technical skillset.
We work with Tridonic components across a wide range of installations, both as part of new system builds and within maintenance and remedial programmes on existing installations. Their Casambi enabled and basicDIM product lines extend what is possible at the driver level without adding unnecessary complexity overhead.

Control4

Smart home integration that makes lighting part of a wider, seamlessly connected residential experience.

For residential projects requiring integration with wider smart home systems, Control4 provides a well-established platform that brings lighting, audio, climate and security together under a single interface.
We support Control4 integration as part of our residential service, ensuring that lighting control hardware is correctly configured to work within the wider system without compromising performance or reliability. The goal is always a system that feels effortless to use and continues to work correctly as the home evolves over time.

Pharos

Architectural lighting control and dynamic scene management for hospitality, retail and landmark environments.

Pharos controllers are built for spaces where lighting is part of the experience. They excel at handling complex scene sequences, time-based programming and integration with AV and building systems, making them a natural choice for hotels, restaurants, museums and high-profile retail environments.
We design and commission Pharos systems that are practical for the teams running them day to day, not just impressive at the point of handover. The aim is always a system that continues to deliver the intended atmosphere without constant manual intervention.

Dynalite

A Philips Signify platform with a long track record in hospitality and commercial environments.

Dynalite has been a fixture of hospitality and commercial lighting control for decades. Its scene-based approach works naturally in environments where different parts of a space need to feel distinct at different times of the day.
We provide commissioning, programming and ongoing support for Dynalite systems, including legacy installations where the original configuration needs refreshing or the system needs to be brought back into reliable operation. We understand what a well-configured Dynalite installation should look like and can identify quickly where things have gone wrong.

Common Questions

Questions buyers regularly ask about lighting control systems and platforms.

Why should I choose an independent specifier over a manufacturer's design?
A manufacturer will only recommend their own products. As independents, we select the best hardware for the job (e.g., WAGO for robustness, Lutron for refinement, Zencontrol for cloud features) based purely on your requirements.
What are the advantages of choosing an open-standard protocol for building integration?
Standards like BACnet and KNX prevent manufacturer "lock-in," ensuring that your lighting, HVAC, and building systems can communicate long into the future, even if specific parts are discontinued.
Do you work with wireless or wired systems?
Both. We typically recommend wired DALI-2 for new builds and wireless (Lutron/Casambi) for retrofits or flexible spaces. Often, the best solution is a hybrid of both.
